5 Chicago Bears to keep an eye on in preseason Week 2 vs Seahawks
Chicago Bears Players to Watch: Kyler Gordon, CB
This one might be a little strange since the others are all backups. However, Kyler Gordon was unable to play vs. the Chiefs last Saturday and he needs to see some extra in-game reps. The team is on a bit of a short rest and normally Gordon would be removed with the rest of the starting defense. In this case, however, I think he needs to see at least one extra series.
Gordon was tearing it up in voluntary OTAs and rookie minicamp. Then, he held out of mandatory minicamp as he was trying to negotiate more guaranteed money in his contract. He’s seen minimal action the rest of the practices but this could be the best test.
I am hoping that Seattle targets Gordon and he proves to us all that he is going to make a very good cornerback in the NFL. Gordon is a bit of a ballhawk, and I expect him to come away with a solid number of interceptions his rookie season. Could you imagine if Gordon and Jaquan Brisker were battling it out for Defensive Player of the Year (DPOY)?
