Chicago Bears Players to Watch: Jack Sanborn, LB

Here is the man of the hour — at least until someone else steps up. Last weekend, Jack Sanborn was very dominant. He did it all. He was intercepting the football while also making solid tackles. He led the team with five, but also added two others on special teams.

What I want to see out of Sanborn in Week 2 of preseason is consistency. We should see a similar result to what we saw vs. the Chiefs. Sanborn does not even need to come away with an interception this game. Instead, I want to see his closing speed and open-field tackling take over.

I don’t expect Sanborn to work his way into the starting rotation, but I could see him forcing his way into the SAM backer role. Imagine a Hunter Hillenmeyer type of player. In this defense, that player only sees 20 to 30% of the defensive snaps anyway.
