The Chicago Bears’ second preseason game saw more moving and shaking of the roster. While some players won jobs, it meant that others saw the downside of the roster churn. Which players had the worst performances on Thursday?

3. Dazz Newsome

Dazz Newsome fumbled his first punt return of the preseason on Saturday. It clearly impacted where the team stands on him. He was probably going to be behind Velus Jones for the job anyways, and his return from injury made that official.

Still, after Jones left the game it was Dante Pettis. Pettis backed up Newsome last game, but after a few clean catch in-game action, he was ahead. After that, Nsimba Webster stepped up.

Webster did not do much as a punt return option but did have the longest kick-off return of the game. After Webster left the game it went to Dazz Newsome. Newsome fumbled another return but it was not his fault.

Still, in a moment when he needed to make a game-changing play, we are explaining away a poor result. As a wide-out, he was working with names like Isaiah Coulter, and Coulter looked better. As a return man, he is a fourth option.

At this point, it is more likely to expect Newsome to get cut sooner rather than later. There can be an argument about whether or not he should be on the practice squad. Considering the team has buried him so deep in return options, that has to be questioned. He could be working elsewhere soon.
