6 Rookies who are making an immediate impact for the Chicago Bears
Jack Sanborn is making an impact from a depth perspective for the Chicago Bears
Here is a rookie who isn’t even a part of the 11 draft picks. Therefore, technically we can only claim five of the 11 are making an impact. Either way, an undrafted free agent is still a rookie and Jack Sanborn deserves some credit.
Sanborn was brought in out of Wisconsin University. He is the definition of a football player in the sense that he flies around the football and makes tackles. He isn’t going to wow anyone, but he has done enough to add some depth not only to the backend of the linebacker group but also on special teams. His special teams abilities are what make me believe he makes the final roster and will see the field on gamedays in his rookie year.
We have seen Sanborn contribute in practice and during the preseason. I would be very surprised if he isn’t the last linebacker kept on the final 53-man roster next Tuesday. I find his playing style to fit exactly with the ideals of the HITS principle that Matt Eberflus and his staff are instilling into the Chicago Bears locker room.
