Kyler Gordon has shown enough despite his nagging injuries

The other second-round pick of Ryan Poles is Kyler Gordon. After the first round concluded, I actually predicted Kyler Gordon to be the Chicago Bears pick should he fall to them at 39 overall. Gordon instantly fixed a problem in the Bears’ secondary. We saw that defensive backfield get thrashed in 2021 and Gordon brings some instant stability.

Like Jaquan Brisker, I expect Kyler Gordon to make an impact immediately as the starting corner opposite Jaylon Johnson. Wait, let me rephrase that. He will just be the second (or first) best corner on the Bears’ roster. I cannot say the opposite of Johnson because Gordon has the versatility to play both outside and inside. He will be playing as both the nickel corner and the outside corner depending on formations and other variables.

I am looking forward to him building upon his performance vs. the Seattle Seahawks in the Bears’ second preseason game last Thursday. He had an up-and-down performance but showed more positives than negatives. He was also dominant at times during camp this offseason. This team needs both their second-round draft picks to stay healthy this season as they are both set to make big impacts on this franchise.
