3. Micah Dew-Treadway
Micah Dew-Treadway is a UDFA rookie who is right on the edge of the roster. There is no doubt that his performance will dictate whether he makes the initial roster, or ends up as a strong practice squad candidate.
One thing helping him immensely is the depth of the position. There is Angelo Blackson and Justin Jones then Khiyris Tonga as a nose tackle. That leaves them with Mike Pennel, Trevon Coley, and Micah Dew-Treadway as the three backups.
Pennel is essentially the direct backup to Tonga, then Coley and MDT are behind Blackson and Jones. The question from here is how many interior linemen will make the cut, and which backups are the best?
For Pennel, it is clear if they want size like a nose tackle, then he is their guy. With the other two, it is the veteran versus the rookie. MDT Has age and upside, but he also is more likely to wind up on the practice squad, where Coley may look for a new opportunity.
The reality is that both of them will get plenty of work this week, especially with LaCale London being let go. It will come down to Coley and MDT and the winner may be the better player in the coming days.
