The Chicago Bears will have a tough decision with running back depth

Right now, the Chicago Bears have it easy when it comes to the top running backs on the depth chart. David Montgomery looked fast and showed big flashes in his preseason debut vs. the Browns on Saturday. This was what many were hoping to see, but the question still remains on if he will be brought back in 2023. For now, Montgomery has the top spot locked in and will be the main ball carrier in 2022.

Behind Montgomery is Khalil Herbert. Herbert proved himself worthy in 2021 and has shown flashes in the preseason and at camp. He’s struggled a bit with catching the football this year, but that wasn’t a big issue last year — I am not worried.

Ryan Poles drafted Trestan Ebner in the sixth round this year. He is my RB3 but we will have to see what his injury designation will be. If he’s fully healthy, he brings more to the table than Darrynton Evans. However, if he’s not healthy then it will be interesting to see if Evans is kept as well. I have the team also keeping fullback, Khari Blasingame. It will be difficult to see Evans go seeing he looked solid vs. the Seahawks and even better vs. the Browns.
