4. Ja’Tyre Carter
Ja’Tyre Carter did not even get onto the field for the Chicago Bears preseason finale. If that does not tell you their plans with him, then I am not sure what does. The reality is that Simmons was not only a rookie on day three of the draft, but he is coming from a much smaller school than most players.
Anyone with realistic expectations for Carter knew that it was going to take a year of growing and learning in the NFL before he had a shot to become anything. The question was whether Carter would learn from the bench or the practice squad. Right now, we are leaning PS.
Carter did not play for a couple of reasons. The team wanted to get a long look at Michael Schofield, who very well may be cut in the upcoming days as well. Beyond that, they were able to hide Carter, and there will not be teams falling over themselves to get him onto their active roster.
It will be easy to sneak the draft pick onto the practice squad, which is why it should be no shock when the team lets him go in the upcoming days.
