5 Chicago Bears firmly on the roster bubble
2. Sam Kamara
The most unheralded player to have an excellent preseason is Sam Kamara. The second-year defensive lineman from Stony Brook was added as a UDFA to be a Ryan Pace project, in a similar manner to Roy Robertson-Harris.
Even without Pace, we are seeing the growth, and perhaps one last UDFA find from the former GM. Kamara has been a force as a pass rusher. What is most impressive is that he has been displaying an inside rush and an outside rush.
Kamara will show bend off of the edge, and then slide inside and use leverage to push interior lineman back into the quarterback.
Before the start of the preseason, this was another former Pace player who would put in the time at training camp. then find a new home. However, in his quest to put out a tape for other teams, he is showing that he may be too good to cut.
Mario Edwards has been injured and has not practiced. He would fill the same role as the inside-outside rusher and is older, more costly, and of course not healthy. Perhaps the team gets rid of the Ryan Pace signing and keeps the UDFA who has a few things going for him. This could be closer than you realize.
