3. Lachavious Simmons

There was already talk that Zach Thomas was losing favor with the coaching staff. The rookie is a sixth-round pick and seems to be picking things up a bit slowly. Still, it was quite notable that the team went with Lachavious Simmons as the backup left guard instead of Thomas.

The Bears also went with Michael Schofield over Ja’Tyre Carter, and Carter did not play at all. Thomas did play, but when he did, Simmons slipped out to left tackle.

The fact that Simmons played the entire second half, and was able to get snaps at left guard and left tackle shows that the team trusted his versatility.

He is more versatile than Schofield, they played him over Thomas, and they did not even play Carter to get a look at him. What that tells you is that if you are projecting the roster, you probably want to keep Simmons over these three players right now.
