The Chicago Bears have managed to get their roster down to 53. However, the roster will change almost immediately with waivers, and the IR. Now that players made the initial 53 they can be placed on the IR and still return during the season.

One name that will certainly be placed on the IR is N’Keal Harry. The team has seven wide receivers, so they will be down to six with Harry heading to IR. They are not going to add another receiver in place of Harry, so it is going to be another position.

It could be a player they pick up on waivers, but it could also be a player who circles and signs with the team. Who are four candidates that fit the description?

4. Darrynton Evans

The Chicago Bears went thin at running back and had extra players at wide receiver, so it could be no surprise that when they end up putting a WR on the IR that they replace him with a running back. Evans could try to stick on somewhere else, but that may be tough for him, and he could realize that his best bet is to return to the team that claimed him on waivers.

Trestan Ebner beat out Evans rather easily in the preseason. However, Ebner is a rookie, and the Bears do not have a player with the type of passing game value beyond him. David Montgomery and Khalil Herbert are much more three-down runners, while Ebner and Evans are a change of pace.

The lack of interest elsewhere, the lack of depth, and Evans being a perfect depth piece behind Ebner makes him a possibility to return.
