3. Mario Edwards

Some fans were surprised to see Mario Edwards released by the Chicago Bears, but he was a player that we had on the roster bubble entering the cutdown. While it was not very surprising that Edwards was let go, it would also not be a shock if he ended up returning.

One reason that Edwards being let go was not a surprise was that the team was seeing a lot from Sam Kamara. The two played a similar role, and Kamara showed more in the preseason. However, with the team letting go of Kamara as well, they are a bit thin in the defensive line.

They currently have four edge rushers and four interior players when a lot of teams wind up with ten players from that group. Edwards can technically slot in as depth at each, and as a ninth lineman, it is still not a lot. If they add any position it should be the defensive line, so Edwards could wind up right back on the roster.
