1. James O’Shaughnessy

Arguably the most surprising name to get cut was James O’Shaughnessy. He did not perform well in the preseason, but the thought was that if O’Shaugnessy did not make the roster it would be because Chase Allen did. While Jake Tonges made the roster, he is a bit of a different role as he is versatile and can move around.

Allen and O’Shaugnessy are more depth at the actual tight end position. We thought that the team wanted extra depth at tight end, so when they lose a seventh wide out it could certainly turn into a fourth tight end.

Ryan Poles knows O’Shaughnessy back from when he was drafted by the Chiefs in the fifth round. Perhaps he told him that he would take care of him 24 hours after cuts when the team puts Harry on the IR. O’Shaughnessy is the type of player who would not get significant attention and does not have to clear waivers, so it does make sense.
