Players the Chicago Bears Must Consider Adding: Nick Martin, C

Well, Sam Mustipher isn’t working, so let’s try another Notre Dame center! Nick Martin is the brother of Zach Martin (elite offensive guard for the Dallas Cowboys). Nick hasn’t had the same career as his brother, but for a few seasons, he was a solid center for the Houston Texans. He hit free agency and didn’t see the field in Las Vegas and didn’t make it out of the Saints preseason.

In his four years in Houston, Martin never allowed more than two sacks in a single season and never was penalized more than four times. He has played in all 16/17 games every year except his rookie year in which he played in 14. Even citing Pro Football Focus (PFF), he always had a solid grade of around 65 except in 2020.

At the very least, the Chicago Bears can get an upgrade at center for the time being with a guy that is better than Mustipher. Additionally, the Bears offensive line needs athletes, and frankly, Mustipher may have one of the lowest RAS scores ever recorded with a 0.85. Have Martin be the plug-in center for the next few games until Lucas Patrick is healed up.
