2. Alex Leatherwood advanced stats review

Last season we know that Alex Leatherwood was poor. Even with new coaching staff, things had to be going downhill quickly for him to get cut after just one season. That is no exaggeration.

According to PFF, he led the NFL in pressures allowed with 53. On a per-snap basis, he ranked 9th to last in the NFL in pass block efficiency. It was a disaster.

As a right tackle, he allowed four sacks, six QB hits, and eight hurries. That came in just four starts. In the final starts, he only allowed four sacks but also allowed 11 QB hits and 32 hurries. He was getting better, but not much.

Either way, this again speaks to the reality that he would be better off as a guard than a tackle. His two best games last season were at right guard, against Dallas and Cleveland.

As a left guard in a zone-heavy scheme, it could be exactly what Leatherwood needs to revive his career.
