Chicago Bears continue adding offense by claiming this WR from Vikings

Adding Ihmir Smith-Marsette to the roster makes sense for the Chicago Bears
For Ihmir Smith-Marsette, the opportunity for him to play is about as wide open as possible.
In Minnesota, Smith-Marsette was rather quiet, however, his path to the field was a lot more crowded than it is with the Chicago Bears.
Smith-Marsette played eight games, while only starting once. In those games, he was targeted six times, and he came down with the ball five of those times for 116 yards and two touchdowns. Were both of those touchdowns against the Chicago Bears? Yep! It’s a match made in Heaven, truly.
Now, there aren’t many receivers in the Chicago Bears’ receiver room as it is, and with the potential Smith-Marsette has with a scheme like Luke Getsy’s, this could be a move that Bears fans look back on and wonder: “How did we get this guy on waivers?!”
While that’s a possible outcome, it’s important to remember that he’s not this elite route-runner, nor does he have glue for hands; but for a 23-year-old with as much potential as this kid has, Ryan Poles might’ve hit another home run this offseason.
However, with the season-opener only ten days away, it’s not likely that Ihmir Smith-Marsette sees a lot of playing time — at least right away. There’s a whole new playbook for him to learn and a quarterback to build chemistry. That doesn’t happen overnight, however, the earlier it happens, the better for both the Chicago Bears and Ihmir Smith-Marsette.
