4. Demarquis Gates

Demarquis Gates was another huge winner of the preseason. When he signed on, many saw him as a training camp body who was giving the team snaps at linebackers because they suffered the wrath of injuries.

Still, Gates went from the AAF to the XFL and the USFL before catching on here and was not going to let his chance slip. Gates flew around making plays in the second halves of every preseason game. He also made enough noise on special teams that Chicago can call him up to the active roster if they needed to.

That was what cemented his job on the PS. Still, the team also claimed Sterling Weatherford, a rookie UDFA and he made the roster over Gates. They like what they have, but know what they have. He was exciting to watch and the linebacker depth chart could get him on the field, but he is still far from making an impact on Sundays.
