8. Kellen Diesch

Kellen Diesch is an offensive tackle from the Miami Dolphins. He is a rookie UDFA who was cut by the team that signed him, and now is looking to catch on with the Chicago Bears. Diesch, or at least his agent probably saw a fifth-round rookie starting at left tackle and told his client that this was the team to sign with.

We profiled Diesch this offseason as a potential draft target and noted that he may not be worth a draft pick. However, we also recognized that a UDFA path may be fine for him. The things going against Diesch are his age and his length.

Diesch was a backup at Texas A&M and struggled to star there before transferring to Arizona State. Beyond that, his arm length would be some of the lowest in the NFL. He has a lot of athletic potentials, but there are reasons he has not it yet.

Beyond that, after 32 teams passed on him in the draft, Miami also saw enough in the preseason. Diesch is not the answer to all questions, here. He has athletic upside and smooth feet, and if he can catch on that is great. Still, there is a reason he is on Chicago’s PS, and why he is not number one on this list.
