It hasn’t been the best few years for Chicago Bears football. There are a few reasons to be optimistic about the 2022 season, however, as the Bears get set to host the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1.
First, Matt Nagy is gone and Matt Eberflus now leads the team. I don’t know if Eberflus will succeed, but he certainly can’t be worse than Nagy.
Second, Justin Fields is electric and should improve.
Third, FanDuel is giving away $150 in free bets with an exclusive promo for Bears fans.

Any wager will get you that $150, but here’s how I’m betting the Bears season opener:
49ers vs Bears Prediction and Pick
49ers -6.5 (-120) vs Bears
This is kind of a buzzkill, but I think it’ll take time for the Bears to show improvement and this is a brutal opening matchup. Trey Lance gives 49ers’ head coach Kyle Shanahan a new rushing dynamic for his already-dynamic offensive scheme, and Chicago’s run defense was one of the NFL’s worst last season.
We saw San Francisco run all over the Bears in a 33-22 win last October. Unfortunately, I see a similar story unfolding to open 2022.
I’m high on the 49ers, so losing to this bunch is no shameful result. San Francisco’s defensive line is ferocious, and I don’t think Chicago made enough improvements on its offensive line to stay competitive.
The 49ers covered the spread in seven of their final nine games in 2021, while the Bears are 0-6 against the spread in their last six matchups as home underdogs. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and it’ll take time for Chicago’s revolution to materialize.
But hey, maybe I’m wrong! Either way, we’re getting that $150 in free bets regardless thanks to FanDuel Sportsbook. We might as well make some money if they’re just giving it away, right? Bet $5, win $150, sign up for FanDuel now!
