3 Keys to a Chicago Bears opening day victory over the 49ers
By Ryan Olson
The Chicago Bears open their 2022 season at noon on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers at home in Soldier Field. We just witnessed this team win three straight games in the preseason. Unfortunately, their undefeated record in the preseason means very little in the grand scheme of things. We saw a Detroit Lions team go 4-0 in the preseason back in 2008 but then lost every game in the regular season.
This is the start of a new regime. Everyone’s slate has been wiped clean. Now it is time for each player to show the world what they can do. Justin Fields is the key to this organization turning things around. If he isn’t it, then Ryan Poles and Matt Eberflus will need to change the game plan very quickly in the rebuild process. A rebuilding process that already started and has the national media claiming this team will be the worst team in the NFL. Are they right?
The Chicago Bears will need to remain disciplined if they want to beat the 49ers
The offensive line is a huge question mark. The secondary should be improved, but they will be counting on two rookies. Roquan Smith is back, but will he be here in 2023 and beyond? Can the defensive ends cause enough havoc in this Matt Eberflus’ defense or can Justin Jones and Armon Watts be the 3-technique he needs? This team is full of question marks, but they have already shown they can remain disciplined. The key will be stringing some wins together.
Here are three keys to an opening season victory for the Bears and their new regime led by Ryan Poles and Matt Eberflus.
