3 Keys to a Chicago Bears opening day victory over the 49ers

Chicago Bears Keys to a Win: Establish the run to take pressure off Justin Fields
Way too many times in Justin Fields’ rookie season, the Chicago Bears were in a hole early and had to ditch the game plan and ground game — this needs to change. Whether it’s starting the game out hot with points, or playing good defense, the Bears need to find a way to keep the game script even so they don’t have to lean completely on the passing game to bail them out of deep holes.
Not that I don’t think the Bears can’t win off of Justin Fields’ arm, but winning through a rushing attack is a much better formula for success. The Packers and Rams and even the 49ers are great examples of it. Good teams arent completely reliant on their quarterbacks unless you’re the Cheifs or Bills. By establishing the rushing attack you open up the reality of chunk plays off of play-action passes, something the Bears did a ton of in preseason.
We saw a small sample size of what David Montgomery can do in this offense. Now, the Chicago Bears need to see him and even Khalil Herbert, put some solid production together. This offensive line is built to be a better running team than a passing team and they cannot lose the battle up front.
