5 questions brought up in Chicago Bears loss to Packers
4. Can Roquan Smith make more plays?
Roquan Smith finished with 11 tackles in the game, so it is hard to say that he was not active. However, when the run defense is letting runners get to the edge, it is even more imperative that the linebackers can fill those gaps. Roquan Smith did not do that against Aaron Jones and the Packers.
It is great to see him fill the stat sheet, but the stats that we need to see now are tackles for loss, interceptions, and forced fumbles. That is not what we have seen, we have just seen the increase in tackles.
Smith is a good player but wants to be paid like an elite player. The performance that he had against Green Bay is not what you would call elite. He was active and near the ball, but too often he was exposed, and too many runs got outside, and to the second level without him beating the running backs to the sideline.
This only adds to the first point that teams are going to come at the Chicago Bears with an outside-zone rushing attack.
