As the weeks continue to come we will continue to learn more about the Chicago Bears coaching staff. While we had takeaways from the team’s snap counts last week, the weather certainly impacted things. The Packers’ dominant control of the football may have changed the game plan in this game, but now that we have a sample of two, it is easier to pick up on trends.

What are the five biggest takeaways from the week two snap counts?

5. David Montgomery gets more of the lead role

In the Chicago Bears season debut, fantasy managers began to panic about David Montgomery. Montgomery only played 66% of the snaps and did not look as good running the ball as Khalil Herbert did. This brought up questions about whether or not Herbert would continue to eat into the time of Montgomery.

However, in week two, the winds shifted back to Montgomery, and his role looked pretty safe. Montgomery played 80% of the snaps in this game. On the flip side, Herbert was down from a 29% snap share to a 20% snap share.

This showed that while the Chicago Bears do intend to ride a hot hand, they will determine that game-to-game. Herbert having a better week one had no indication in week two. Montgomery came out and was hot, so they continued to role with him. There may be games where Montgomery dips below 70% again this season, but there also will be plenty of games when he exceeds his 80% snap share in this game as well.
