Could the Chicago Bears entertain Xavier Rhodes as a possible upgrade?
What about bringing in Xavier Rhodes to help the cornerbacks out? Matt Eberflus has already stated he’s willing to live with the growing pains of having two rookies start in the Bears’ secondary. It’s the right call and the best option for this team’s future. However, I did think the team would have looked to bring in former Indianapolis Colts corner, Xavier Rhodes this offseason.
Rhodes is still available and with the Bears currently ranking 17th vs. the pass in Defensive DVOA rankings, it might be a good idea to look for help at the cornerback spot. I already mentioned Janoris Jenkins, but Rhodes continues to make sense for the Bears as he played in the Eberflus and Alan Williams system both last year and the year prior. He had some success in the system too.
In 2021, Rhodes allowed 60.7 percent of his targets to be completed. In 2020, that number was only 51.9 percent. Over that span, he only had three interceptions, but it’s not like Kindle Vildor has been a ballhawk. Ryan Poles should consider bringing Rhodes in for at least a tryout.
