3. Dameon Pierce vs Bears run D

Through two games, the Chicago Bears’ run defense has not been good. They held up against the 49ers, but a lot of that was aided by an Elijah Mitchell injury. Mitchell had been torching the Bears prior to his injury.

The Green Bay Packers saw this matchup and exposed it, going with a heavy dose of Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon. Now, we will see if the Houston Texans can continue their success. In the first week of the season it was Rex Burkhead leading their way, but then last week it was Dameon Pierce.

The assumption is that the rookie is being eased into the NFL, but after getting the majority of the work in week two, he should be ready to lead the backfield in week three.

One good thing for Chicago is that they have been getting torched on the outside runs so far this season. Pierce is more dynamic as an inside runner.

So, we will see if Chicago just has an awful run defense, and it is picking your poison, or if the only teams that can expose the Bears are the ones who can run it outside of the tackles. This will be telling for how the rest of the season played out.
