Player three: Michael Badgley

With how good Cairo Santos has been in his tenure with the Chicago Bears, it was a little nerve-wracking going into a Sunday without him being the kicker. Fortunately, the Bears found a good temporary replacement for him in the “Money Badger.”

Michael Badgley went four-four on the day in field goals. A perfect day for a kicker who is using this week as another NFL tryout can mean a possible job as a starter. Badgley has bounced around the league after a couple of successful seasons as a Charger. He was as steady as ever against the Giants, even with some shaky weather conditions.

Badgley will most likely not be around for more than this week, or maybe next week. Still, he is a winner from this game because not only did he account for all of the Bears points, but he was also the most consistent player in the game today. As much as people might say he is just a kicker, it seems like a lot of games come down to field goals in the way today’s NFL games are played.

Kickers are always getting called upon during the season. For Badgley, this opportunity can mean the next call he gets is a place that needs him for more than a week. He has experience and teams know he can kick. Hopefully, he can remain consistent in any opportunities he gets down the line.

The Bears made a solid pickup this week to find an emergency backup for their stud kicker Santos. Santos should be back next week, but if not, the Bears have a more than reliable backup in Michael Badgley.
