Where has Robert Quinn been for the Chicago Bears this season?
This is not the first time that Robert Quinn has played as a down defensive lineman. In fact, he’s had just as much success with his hand in the dirt than standing up as an outside linebacker. Through three games, Quinn has not made his presence known. He has basically disappeared. The defensive line as a unit has not been very good outside of a few series by Trevis Gipson and rookie, Domonique Robinson. Quinn just hasn’t been flashing at all and it’s a disappointment.
Quinn is coming off an 18.5 sack season — one more than Richard Dent’s prior franchise single-season record. Through four games, he only has one sack and two pressures. It’s not as if he’s contributing much in the run defense either. He only has six combined (four solos) tackles and only one of those was a tackle-for-loss. For what Quinn is being paid, he’s not living up to anyone’s expectations.
He has not done the Chicago Bears any favors here because he was also a name to be watched as trade bait prior to the NFL trade deadline at the beginning of November. With this type of performance, it’s going to be hard to find a team interested in a 32-year-old EDGE rusher who can’t seem to get to the quarterback let alone contain.
