Kyler Gordon is making Ryan Poles and the Chicago Bears look foolish

If you were looking for players on the offensive line, I completely understand the frustration that not a single one made this list. To be honest, as a whole, the unit has not been as good as advertised in the passing game. The run blocking has been vastly different and this is why I chose to single out Kyler Gordon instead of the line. That could change in a few weeks when we review this list again.

Gordon is a rookie and we all knew there would be growing pains. Jaquan Brisker has looked much better as the second of their second-round picks. He had his worst game vs the Giants but fixed his mistakes at halftime. Gordon has shown us flashes, but they are way too few and far between. Through four games, Gordon has been targeted 28 times. He has allowed 20 of those to be completed for a 71.4% completion percentage. He has only given up one touchdown to this point, but those 20 completions have gone for 305 yards. That’s more than 15 yards per completion.

The team passed on a wide receiver for Gordon and it might have been a mistake. That said, it’s time to be patient. Gordon has the tools, he just needs the game to slow down. Playing him now and living through those growing pains will either prove he has what it takes or he doesn’t and the team can move on. Let’s hope he proves it after we’ve seen George Pickens making an impact for the Steelers.
