The Chicago Bears should keep their current starting offensive tackles
Braxton Jones, LT
Yep, you heard me. I know Braxton Jones has struggled a bit at times, but he has been solid as the starting left tackle in both the run-blocking and pass-blocking game. There is no reason to be playing Riley Reiff over him at this point.
There are times that Jones looks worse at pass blocking than he actually has because the interior has been unable to keep inside pressure. As Jones is pushing his opponent around to the back, he has them back far enough at times but Justin Fields has nowhere to step up into a pocket because the pocket is collapsing from all around him.
Larry Borom, RT
If we are going to replace either of the tackles, Larry Borom would be the first one I’d switch out. Reiff is able to play both sides of the line and he can handle Borom’s spot if needed. That said, I’d rather keep giving Borom experience. He has been average. The problem is, too many on this line have been average — especially from a pass-blocking standpoint. Ryan Poles needs to be willing to upgrade every single position on this line in 2023 except maybe Teven Jenkins.
