The Chicago Bears fell to 2-3 after losing in heartbreaking fashion to the rival Vikings 29-22. While it is difficult to feel good after a disappointing loss, it was as much of a moral victory as you will find in the NFL, as they managed to stay competitive in a game that looked destined for a blowout early on.

Many believe the Vikings, who are near the top of nearly every analyst’s power rankings, are one of the NFL’s best teams. Meanwhile, the Bears are unanimously considered one of the worst. The Week 5 NFC North clash was supposed to be Minnesota’s opportunity to assert its dominance on Chicago and strengthen its hold on the division. With that said, the Chicago Bears had other plans, which did not include bowing down to their rival despite the odds being stacked against them.

3 Takeaways fans should focus on from the Chicago Bears loss to Minnesota

The Bears once again proved to be a second-half team, as they nearly pulled off an improbable comeback despite being down 21-3 midway through the second quarter. Chicago’s outlook seemed bleak early on. The offense was sputtering, and the defense looked overmatched against Minnesota’s elite playmakers. However, the momentum began to shift after Darnell Mooney hauled in a miraculous one-handed snag late in the second quarter, as they started playing with more confidence on both sides of the ball and promptly went on to score 19 unanswered points.

The Chicago Bears might not have as much talent as the Vikings, but they showed that will not prevent them from being competitive. It is fair to question some of the coaching staff’s personnel decisions, but it is impossible to disregard their ability to make in-game adjustments on the fly.
