3. Trevis Gipson
The Washington Commanders drafted Sam Cosmi to be their starting right tackle. While that has worked, there is a good chance that he misses the game on Sunday as he is still recovering from a hand injury. What that will do is put Cornelius Lucas into the starting lineup.
Chicago Bears fans should know Cornelius Lucas because he stepped in for an injured Bobby Massie during the 2019 season.
However, he has been starting on and off for Washington for the last three seasons, mainly due to injuries. He has not been a liability, but it is almost never the Commander’s plan to play him, and he always ends up in the lineup.
With that in mind, Trevis Gipson should be in line for a big game. The Chicago Bears finally made the switch of playing Gipson more than Al-Quadin Muhammad last week.
He responded with two great pressures, so you should assume that the disparity in snaps will only grow towards Gipson.
Last week, it was only a two-snap difference. Still, Gipson outplaying again should mean another chance. Gipson may even start. That could easily allow Gipson to have one of the best games of his career, and solidify his role as a starter.
