The Chicago Bears somehow found a way to lose at home to the Washington Commanders on Thursday Night Football. Despite allowing only 12 points, the Bears fell short in a game they should have won by a good margin. It was an ugly win for the Commanders and an even uglier loss for the Bears, and these players deserve a lot of the blame.

The offensive line was a big reason the Chicago Bears lost to the Commanders

Player One: Braxton Jones

Although he is a rookie starting left tackle that was selected in the fifth round, it has been a decent season so far for Braxton Jones. He has held his own against some good pass rushers through the first leg of the season, but tonight against the Commanders it was a different story.

He was facing off against Montez Sweat for most of the game tonight and Sweat got the best of him for the majority of the matchup. Jones was getting pushed around by Sweat and company and he looked like a true rookie tonight. As a result, Justin Fields was running for his life on just about every other dropback, especially with the amount of pressure up the middle as well.

There were some plays where the Bears put a tight end on the left side to help Jones with his matchup, and we saw running backs Khalil Herbert and David Montgomery in blocking duties a lot as well.

Putting Braxton Jones at left tackle was the best bet for the Bears to start this season. They signed Riley Reiff late in camp but he is more of an insurance policy than a starter on this offensive line. Still, if Jones wants to keep his spot as a starter and if the Bears want their quarterback to stay healthy, he needs to play better.
