Player Two: Dante Pettis

It was somewhat of a revelation game for Dante Pettis who scored the only touchdown of the night for the Chicago Bears. After a really horrible week that consisted of drops and just lackluster play overall, Dante Pettis bounced back and played a big role in the little offensive success that the Bears saw against the Commanders.

Pettis finished with four receptions on seven targets, including a forty-yard touchdown grab on a beautiful throw by Justin Fields. Pettis was good today, which is something to be said considering how he has played since Week 1. He only had one catch on the season, which was his 51-yard play against the 49ers in Week 1. On six targets this year, there have been a good amount of throws that should have been caught by Pettis. Thankfully, he came through against the Commanders.

Pettis was the only clear receiving threat today outside of Darnell Mooney. Mooney had twelve targets and Pettis had seven. The next closest was Cole Kmet with three. Pettis is a valuable piece on this team because of how thin the wide receiver depth is for the Chicago Bears. He brings speed and a veteran presence to a receiver room that is filled with inexperience and project players.

Pettis might also see more kick-returning duties as Velus Jones Jr. has struggled mightily in that role, especially on punt returns. The Bears will continue to rely on Dante Pettis not because they want to, but because they have to. Hopefully, he continues to play as he did against Washington.
