2. Chicago Bears need improved Red zone passing

This was a pretty obvious highlight from the game on Thursday Night. Still, this season Justin Fields is 4-11 when he is passing in the red zone. That went for 27 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. He also has a red zone sack. It looks worse when you realize one of the touchdowns was the sweep pass to Velus Jones.

He has added 10 rushes for 23 yards, and a touchdown, but overall this is not nearly good enough. This goes back to Justin Fields and his mental clock. Things get much tighter in the red zone, and it will be impossible to see wide-open players shooting free in his vision.

This is where Justin Fields has to be decisive and throw into tight windows. He has to make big passes in this area, and it has not happened.

One big issue is the ball getting tipped. It went off someone’s helmet on Thursday, but hands have batted Fields passes down far too often, and it does tend to come when the field shrinks, such as in the red zone.

Could the playcalling improve in here? Yes. Has the running game being a let down in the red zone? Yes. However, the issues in the red zone are issues that Fields has throughout the game, they are just magnified because points are on the line here.
