1. Chicago Bears waiting so long to draft their starting LT

This is tough because the Chicago Bears drafted Braxton Jones in the fifth round. You can say that Braxton Jones has been bad, and a liability, and that is fair, but how much can you blame him? He was at Southern Utah last season, and now he has Montez Sweat, a near alien throwing him around.

The bigger issue is how Ryan Poles handled the position. He waited until round five to find his starting left tackle. If you luck into that after drafting for depth that is great, but they had few other options. In fact, their other option at the time was either their starting right guard or their starting right tackle.

The team signed Riley Reiff a day before training camp and then realized why he was available a day before training camp. Braxton Jones beat him fair and square, and when you see Jones now, you have to wonder how washed up Reiff really is.

It was smart for Chicago to give the younger player the chance, and Jones has been fine when you put expectations of a fifth-round rookie from Southern Utah into context. Still, that was asking for a disaster from the start, and they got it. The Chicago Bears will go into next offseason needing a left tackle in most scenarios, and that is just another issue added to the list.
