It’s time to bring in veteran help for the Chicago Bears offensive tackles

I thought this team made the right moves by signing Michael Schofield and Riley Reiff right before the start of training camp. The problem is that neither seems to be working out. I’m not sure if that’s on the coaching staff for wanting to build for the future or what, but I have a hard time believing that Reiff and/or Schofield aren’t a better option than what we have seen to this point.

There are other veteran offensive linemen available via free agency still. I’m a fan of Braxton Jones and his ability to push himself to be the starting left tackle this year. However, he is struggling to stop a strong bull rush. We cannot sit back and watch Justin Fields take hit after hit just to give Jones reps to help his development. The development of Fields is by far more important.

A few names that are available for Ryan Poles to consider bringing in to help the offensive line include Eric Fisher, Brian Bulaga, Brandon Shell, Mike Remmers, or maybe they can convince Daryl Williams to unretire. An interesting option could be Justin Skule who is currently on the Bucs practice squad. Skule is only 25 years old and played in a similar system in San Francisco. This is a move I could definitely get behind.
