Chicago Bears Overreaction No. 2: Luke Getsy might be the best offensive coordinator in the league

Sure, this might be an overreaction considering it took seven weeks to finally utilize Justin Fields as a runner, but the Chicago Bears did it.

Now, running Justin Fields 20 times isn’t the answer, but having designed runs for the athletic freak that is Justin Fields should be part of the scheme, no doubt.

There aren’t receivers that can consistently get open, so utilizing Justin Fields’ legs was a nice thing to see from Luke Getsy and the Bears offense.

The Bears are far from being in conversations with the Buffalo Bills, but they’re a team that also utilizes their athletically gifted quarterback with designed runs. And because of that, Josh Allen has to be accounted for on every play, since there’s a possibility he’s just going to run with it.

That’s a good scheme to throw at opposing defenses, and not even Bill Belichick could stop it.

Belichick himself even noted, per the Chicago Tribune, “We didn’t have a lot of answers for anything.”

Along with that, Matthew Judon noted how dynamic the playcalling was. When asked in an interview with the Chicago Tribune, Judon put it this way: “We gave him third-and-long, and it seems like he would just find a running lane and pick it up with his feet or make a throw,” Matthew Judon said of Fields. “I think he was just keeping the chains moving. We kind of had no answers for him.”

Bill Belichick’s defense had no answer for Justin Fields?

That’s a bode of confidence for the newly appointed best offensive coordinator in NFL history: Luke Getsy.

Now, if he stinks next week, it’s back to “Luke Getsy stinks,” but for now, he’s the best offensive coordinator in the league, period.
