3 reasons Chicago Bears are unlikely to trade David Montgomery
Chicago Bears are remaining competitive
Had the Chicago Bears lost on Monday Night Football we could have seen a completely different situation than what we are talking about right now. However, with the win, the team is now 3-4. Sitting at 3-4 they are just a half of a game out of the playoffs because the Rams had a bye and sit at 3-3.
From there, there is a group of teams who sit at 3-4, and things could change dramatically over the next couple of weeks. The Chicago Bears really are not in the same position to sell as they were a week ago, or had they been 2-5.
Even though we know that they probably will not go on a magical run, it is not like they are saying that inside the building. They are playing as if they can get hot and make the playoffs.
They just used Montgomery is a great role next to Khalil Herbert, and while it is not the most likely scenario yet, there is still a chance that Montgomery can get extended long-term at a reasonable price.
When you consider that the team can build on what they did Monday with their two running backs and that they are the lifeblood of the team, you have to think that Montgomery will be on the roster through the end of the season.
