Player three: Chicago Bears pass rush

The Chicago Bears did not register a sack against the Dallas Cowboys. Dak Prescott really only got touched on one or two plays. After only having one sack last week against the Patriots, the Bears did not look any better against the Cowboys. While it is clear that the Bears do not have a star pass rusher on their front, they still can cause more pressure as a unit.

The defensive line as a whole has been a weak point of this defense, and if they are not generating pressure, it will be hard to create turnovers, which is the basis of the defensive principles. Now, that will get even harder to do without Robert Quinn.

The Cowboys have a good offensive line, but there are weak points that the Bears should have been able to take advantage of, such as Terrance Steele at right tackle. They also rotated players at right guard throughout the game. It was safe to say the Bears were not able to capitalize on the weaknesses of the Cowboys’ offense.

Alan Williams and Matt Eberflus will have to scheme pressure since their players struggle to win one-on-one matchups. It will take an entire effort by the defensive line and most likely some blitz packages with Roquan Smith getting to rush the passer.

The Chicago Bears have not been able to control the line of scrimmage on defense this year and it is becoming a real problem. Now that the offense is starting to come alive the defense has taken a backseat.
