The Chicago Bears suffered a blowout loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8. It was a very bad loss in which the Bears were dominated for almost the entire game. The score was 49-29. Still, the score does not tell the whole story and for once the offense actually performed very well against arguably the top defense in the league. Yes, the outcome was very poor, but in a rebuilding year, this is the type of loss that keeps hope for what is to come.

The Chicago Bears offense played very well once again against a top defense

Player one: Justin Fields

It is safe to say Justin Fields is officially breaking out. Sure, he is not posting MVP-caliber passing numbers, but he is putting up consistent performances over these last four weeks or so and keeping the Bears competitive. The important thing is that he is doing this with little to no weapons and an offensive line that can barely keep the pocket clean for two seconds.

The entire offense is improving as a unit. It is clear that the unit is meshing better, and they are trusting each other to make plays. The combination of David Montgomery and Khalil Herbert in the backfield along with Fields running ability has created a three-headed monster in the running game. The offensive line is slowly starting to protect Fields better, although barely. Darnell Mooney is coming into form as the best playmaker on the Bears again.

Fields is now in a place to take a game over when he is dialed in. He is hitting throws that we saw him miss earlier in the season. His decision-making and pocket awareness have grown a lot since the early portion of the year. While the team got blown out, the offense did almost as much as you can ask of them. With only two punts and one lost turnover, the Bears played a sound game on offense, and most of that credit goes to Justin Fields. He is becoming the player the Bears imagined he could be right in front of our eyes, and it could be scary hours next season when he has more weapons.

A lot of credit also goes to Luke Getsy who is really showing why the Bears wanted him to be the offensive coordinator here. His play-calling and situational awareness have been very strong in the past few weeks and the offense is thriving because of it. The Cowboys were yet to allow a team to score over 26 points this season, and the Bears changed that today.
