2. Is Riley Reiff on the trade block?

The Chicago Bears got to start Riley Reiff in place of Larry Borom, who missed the game with a concussion. That is never a good thing, but Borom is expected to be back this week. This could have ended up being helpful to the team because it gave them a chance to highlight a potential tackle on the trade market.

The Chicago Bears only need Riley Reiff in the sense of depth, but they also just got Alex Leatherwood back. So, it may have been a reminder to teams that Reiff is around, and that Chicago has him, which means he is on the trade block.

While David Montgomery is obviously the more valuable player, teams know how valuable tackle depth is. If any team is on a backup tackle, or if they are set to make a run, but do not feel good about their depth, trading for Riley Reiff makes plenty of sense.

For the Chicago Bears, they did give him a bit more than Dante Pettis. So, they could view this two ways. They could dump his salary and take a low pick, or they could eat his salary and try to find a better pick.

If a team was going to give up a decent pick they would have to be desperate enough to start him, but that is possible with a name like Reiff, and injuries across the NFL. Not many people are thinking about Riley Reiff as a trade name, but it would be smart to get something for a player who is unlikely to see the field for the Chicago Bears again this season.
