How should fantasy owners value Justin Fields for the rest of the season?

Here is the remainder of the Chicago Bears schedule, and where those teams rank in terms of points per game given up to the QB position for fantasy (1st = most PPG given up / 32 = least PPG given up):

  • MIA: 7th
  • DET: 2nd
  • ATL: 4th
  • NYJ: 24th
  • GB: 29th
  • PHI: 31st
  • BUF: 28th
  • DET: 2nd
  • MIN: 9th

Some tough matchups on paper in the middle there, but 55.55% of these games are against teams that give up Top-10 fantasy PPG to QBs. Solid from a scheduling standpoint. In all of those matchups, he should be in fantasy lineups.

You can then note again that Dallas was a rough matchup he excelled in for fantasy scoring, and to consider starting Fields due to his scoring floor boosted by that rushing upside. To me, Justin Fields is a Top-12 fantasy option for the QB position for the rest of the season with Top-5 upside.

I will also note briefly here, that there is the chance he takes a bump in the passing attempts department and has more upside through the air due to the Chase Claypool signing. Many reference the regression of Chase Claypool for the fantasy world and how he has been under expectation, but the Mojo Markets Twitter page just tweeted out some reminders from Claypool’s rookie season:

  • 11 total TDs
  • 15th in yards per reception
  • 9 receptions of 20+ yards
  • 94.1 @PFF grade on deep targets
  • More than 2 Yds/route run

Showing that the former Steeler has some upside worth noting, that can be useful for Justin Fields’ fantasy stock. Darnell Mooney has also had three games in a row above 50 receiving yards, with 70 in Week 8. Another WR that can lift Justin Fields’ upside through the air to pair with his rushing upside.

It is tough to have patience sometimes in the fantasy world, but seeing the difference in the first four games for Justin Fields compared to the last four games for the sophomore QB, you can see how it can pay off. Fields is passing more efficiently, utilizing his legs well, has a playbook that looks to have him at the center of it, and just received a new weapon to utilize. Have confidence in this Bear in your fantasy lineups.
