Darnell Mooney will score seven touchdowns for the Chicago Bears

As it stands, Darnell Mooney doesn’t have a single touchdown recorded in 2022. That is about to change at the back end of the regular season. In fact, he’s not going to only get one, but he’s going to finish with seven.

Crazy, I know. Remember, these are bold predictions though. With the addition of Chase Claypool, I am expecting Darnell Mooney to have even more open looks on the field. As teams have to choose who to cover, Mooney should see less of a team’s double-teams.

Mooney started the season out in a very rough fashion. He only had two catches for four yards in the first two weeks. He started to put things together in Week 5 though and has looked more like himself ever since. Now he gets Chase Claypool on the field with him, a proven player who can catch the deep ball and fight off contested catches in a way other receivers on this team can’t. That should open the field up even more for Mooney.

Right now, Mooney has 364 yards receiving on 25 catches. He has only caught 56% of his targets though. He also doesn’t have a single touchdown. My bold prediction is that the continued growth and development of Justin Fields paired with the addition of Chase Claypool should open up Darnell Mooney’s game and he will finish with seven touchdowns by the season’s end.
