Jaquan Brisker will win Defensive Rookie of the Year

Alright, this one isn’t going to happen. Remember, these are bold predictions. If Brisker wants any shot at earning this award, he will need to start creating more havoc in the takeaway department. Right now, he only has one interception and a fumble recovery. Adding to his passes defended would help too. Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner leads the league with 12 as a rookie, while Brisker only has one. Both only have one interception though.

If we look at how well Jaquan Brisker has played this season, it’s unbelievable how quickly he has stepped in to make an immediate impact. Brisker is not even close to being in the running for Defensive Rookie of the Year and that’s what makes this prediction bold. I think the oddsmakers and even NFL analysts are overlooking what he brings to the table. Some stats cannot be measured. He’s one reason why Eddie Jackson has played as well as he has for starters.

Now, let’s look at his advanced stats. He has the one interception while only being targeted 25 times. Out of those 25 targets, he has only given up 11 completions for a 44.0% completion percentage. Quarterbacks have only been able to produce 138 passing yards, one touchdown and a measly 58.4 QB rating while throwing in Brisker’s direction. Should Brisker start putting some interceptions on his resume in the back half of the season, then his chances at DROY will increase.
