The Chicago Bears suffered a tough loss at home to the Miami Dolphins 35-32 in their Week 9 matchup. The team fought as hard as they could but in the end, the Bears were not able to outscore the high-powered Dolphins offense and the referees. While the loss was heartbreaking, the team showed fight and the offense held up its end of the bargain once again.

Chicago Bears Stud No. 1: Justin Fields, QB

It is safe to say that Justin Fields has more than broken out. He has become the player that the Bears drafted him to be right in front of our eyes. He has shown flashes of the potential that everyone saw in him, but the question was if he could do it consistently and against strong defenses. Over the last few games, he has shown elite skills and the ability to put the team on his back. It has not been perfect yet, but he is becoming one of the biggest threats in the NFL because of his speed and ability to throw the ball with the best of them.

If anyone is looking for proof, just look at his performance in this game against the Dolphins. With four total touchdowns and over 300 yards today, he put up an MVP-type performance. Unfortunately, the defense allowed Miami to get whatever they wanted through the first three-quarters of the game, so Fields’ effort was not enough.

It used to be a real issue late in games because Fields would make bad decisions and miss throws. He has matured so much this year as the offense has been built around his talents. The ability to decide when to take off and run versus when to look downfield and the accuracy that he has shown have been highlighted over the last few weeks.

The Dolphin’s defense is not elite, but they are still a good defense this season. They play fast and rally to the ball. This is a game that the old Justin Fields would have panicked in and potentially thrown away. Now that his offense is built around him and he has extra weapons there is a different confidence in his ability to put the Bears in a spot to win. Today, the team and referees let him down. If Fields keeps playing like this the Bears could look to take a big jump next season.
