Most would agree that Justin Fields is just now playing some of his best football. So, while it is nice to feel that way, it is even better to see the actual progress in front of you. Below we will look at the way Justin Fields has improved with the Chicago Bears each week.
Thanks to RBSDM.com we can look at EPA, CPOE, and a combination of both. Expected Points Added is interesting to look at, because it shows how impactful Fields is on a play-by-play basis, while completion percentage over expectations shows how accurate of a passer he is, and how many passes he can complete that others cannot.
Justin Fields EPA with Chicago Bears in 2022
Things started off rocky, but you can see that after the up and down of week five to week six, he has steadily improved from weeks seven through nine.

Week seven was a bit better than week eight, but week eight was one of the four best games of his season. Then, week nine rivaled only week five for the best game Fields had from an EPA perspective.
The effect on the cumulative has been nothing but rising as well.
Justin Fields CPOE with Chicago Bears
His CPOE has been a bit more up and down. Still, the cumulative is showing steady improvement.

Fields plateaued a bit in week nine, but that is mostly because week eight was the most efficient that you have seen Fields as a passer.
Now, we look at the combination of both. This is where we can see the real growth. He has improved in both areas, so when you combine it, it is a bit more defined.

He had a lul, but after week five you can see that it was consistently rising. Beyond that, his last three weeks are well above what he has been doing in the previous six.
It will be easy to say that he is not throwing, but his CPOE improvement shows that when he is throwing, it is much more effective. Beyond that, every play he makes increases the expected points that Chicago scores, so he seems to be doing just fine in that area as well.
It has been fun to watch Justin Fileds improve, and now you can see what it looks like analytically.
