The Chicago Bears were not able to hold onto a lead as they fell apart late in the fourth quarter thanks to a pick-six and some poor mistakes. Still, the Bears are in a position where they have to take the good out of these losses because it is a development year. The young players that continue to show out have helped the team see what it could be in the future.

Chicago Bears Stud No. 1: Cole Kmet

All aboard the Cole Kmet hype train. The third-year tight end is finally breaking out in this offense. Kmet now has five touchdowns in the last three games and has emerged as a top target in the offense along with Darnell Mooney. He finished his game against the Lions with four catches for 74 yards and two touchdowns. He also led the team with seven targets.

While Mooney is the top wideout on the team, Kmet has arguably been the best option for Fields through the recent offensive surge. He has found a way to get open by using his size to shield off defenders and get between the linebackers and safeties in the second level. Fields is trusting him to make plays and he has stepped up and done just that. Kmet is tough and does not go down unless a gang tackles him. He is the epitome of hard, tough football and it is energizing the offense.

Not only is he a tough player, but he has very solid hands for a tight end. He makes some very good catches that even some of the receivers on this team are not able to haul in. He is not great with his footwork, but he uses his IQ and awareness to get open as he did on the huge touchdown off play-action against the Lions.

It seems to be expected for tight ends to break out in their third year, and many were expecting Kmet to after the solid year he had last season. He is starting to turn into the offensive weapon that the Bears wanted him to be when they took him in the second round.
