Which Chicago Bears were winners from Week 11 vs. Lions?
Chicago Bears Stud No. 3: Khalil Herbert
With the Bears using a split carry system at running back, the team usually goes with whoever has the hot hand in the game. While David Montgomery has struggled to get any big runs this season, Khalil Herbert has taken advantage and shown his explosiveness. That was evident against the Lions. Here is how the two finished:
Montgomery: 9 carries, 37 yards
Herbert: 10 carries, 57 yards
While today was not a great day on the ground for the Bears running backs, it was clear that Herbert had the hot hand and was able to string together some chunk runs, especially late in the game. This seems to have been the common theme this season.
Montgomery still gives more as a pass catcher and in pass protection, but as a true runner this season Khalil Herbert has been better. The good thing is that the two backs complement each other, so hopefully, we can see some more big runs from both guys going forward.
Khalil Herbert did not have a super great game, but he played well and was the better of the two backs in this one. He continues to show that speed and burst off the line and the Bears are rewarding him with more work as the year progresses.
The Chicago Bears lost to the Detroit Lions which stings a lot, but some of the young players on this team had great showings. In an evaluation year, these performances can go a long way in determining whether someone sticks around. Onto Atlanta…
