Players Hurting the Chicago Bears: Sam Mustipher, C

Sam Mustipher has played better as of late, but he hasn’t been good. He has been the weakest link on the offensive line most weeks. Even when Fields has a good passing game, most of the big plays came on improvised, scrambles, and not on plays he has had time to throw. When Fields does have time to throw, he looks dominant — that is until his receiver doesn’t make a play on the ball.

The Chicago Bears need to upgrade the offensive line and center has to be a focus. Doug Kramer might be the answer, but he’s on injured reserve and Poles cannot count on him. Lucas Patrick is on a two-year deal, but he’s been nearly as awful as Sam Mustipher when healthy.

Blitz pickups have been an issue. Interior pressure has been an issue. Botched snaps have been an issue. The issues have piled up week after week and this team cannot go into 2023 with Mustipher as the starting center. The team needs to decide between him or Lucas Patrick as the backup for 2023.
