Ryan Poles needs to find Justin Fields a top-notch wide receiver

If we look at the Chicago Bears offense. One key thing that is missing is a playmaker at a skill position. David Montgomery and Darnell Mooney are close. Chase Claypool has shown flashes, but he’s not a bonafide top-end receiver like most of the top teams have on their rosters.

Look at what Ja’Marr Chase brought to the table for the Bengals. Look at what A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith have brought to the table for the Eagles. Justin Jefferson is dominating in the NFC North, while Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle are dominating the NFL. Patrick Mahomes lost Hill but still has Travis Kelce. The Chicago Bears need their version of one of these players.

Unfortunately, free agency does not have many options at wide receiver. The top names available in 2023 include some of the same names we saw in 2022 that Ryan Poles passed on. JuJu Smith-Schuster is arguably the top candidate. Jarvis Landry, Jakobi Meyers, Sterling Shepard, D.J. Chark and Nelson Agholor are a few others. Again, none of them have that “it” factor.

This is why the Chicago Bears and Ryan Poles need to turn to the 2023 NFL Draft.

Where to find one: 2023 NFL Draft (1st or 2nd Round)

I’ve already said that I’d be happy with Jalen Carter (DT) or one of the top left tackle candidates being selected with the Bears’ first-round pick. That said, I think wide receiver needs to be the focus. The team can trade down and still land one of the top prospects. These names include Jordan Addison, Quentin Johnson, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Kayshon Boutte and fast-riser, Jalin Hyatt. One of these names plus the additional draft capital received after trading down is my ideal 2023 NFL Draft for the Chicago Bears.
